Our Story
St. George’s Church is an evangelical Anglican church. We aim to be led by the Holy Spirit in putting Jesus at the centre of all our teaching and worship and to be faithful to the study and teaching of the Bible as God’s Word. Members are encouraged to use their spiritual gifts for the building up of God’s family and to grow in their faith, becoming faithful, confident and joyful in believing, in order to share the love of God with others. God’s love is for everyone and all are welcome here.
Our History
The church itself was built in the 1960’s, though there has been a worshipping community on the site for much longer and the current building was borne out of the prayers & vision of that community. As well as the main worship space and vestry, the church has toilets, a kitchen space and a small room used as a Meeting Room and Prayer Room. There is no graveyard but the church has a grassed area to the front where ashes can be interred and a small memorial garden with bench seating. Across the car park there is a Community Hall which is regularly used by several local groups, and can be hired for events and groups. At the back there is an enclosed grassed play area used regularly by Swallows Nest Preschool during term time.
